But this game has really pulled me back into the genre. This is a game that I just keep finding myself playing. It's great to pass a little time. Plus I always want to replay it to try and exceed my previous score. The graphics are beautiful and the soundtrack is nice. I got it for $0.49 during the Winter Sale. Worth way more than that. Bought two more copies as gifts. Give it a go. You won't be disappointed.. Critical Mass is a match-4 game played on a rubiks-like cube with a few different modes that try to do something new with this particular type of puzzle but ultimately don't end up adding much to the game. My main beef with it is that offline mode is severely crippled--since most of the gameplay is point-based and matched up with worldwide online leaderboards, playing offline limits you to about two different play modes. This seems pretty unneccessary--why not just focus on personal scores and times instead? It's especially annoying for people like me who are on a metered connection and play offline frequently to avoid overage charges. Even more annoying (for achievement hunters, of which I am one) is that several of the achievements are effectively broken, since they require the player to, among other things, reach #1 in the online leaderboards. My other favorite one is subtitled "Play for 100 hours." ...No thanks.There are a few other little annoyances which I would be willing to overlook if the rest of the game were salavageable, but in this case just made me dislike the game more. The music track is a simple loop, very short, that you'll need to turn off after a few minutes to avoid going insane. I did like the game's namesake mechanic in which you're required to clear blocks before the cube becomes too heavy for the screen and reaches "critical mass." It's basically a time limit for each level, but it kept me playing the game a little bit longer than I would have otherwise.I guess if you're not much of an achievement hunter (that one really killed it for me), and aren't on a metered connection or simply don't mind staying online all the time, and you're looking for a simple puzzle game to kill some time with, you would probably find Critical Mass enjoyable, but I feel like there are so many other games that have done this one better that you'd be better off choosing something else.. o/ ('')_(oO)_('')game for color blindness!. Critical Mass was a rather intuitive and cute game. The gameplay could get rather repetitive, but every once in the while when I boot up the game, I'm immersed in a rubik's cube elimination like world. Overall 7/10.. This is the WORST game ever! DON'T you ever buy it, even if someone is gifting you this game - DON'T accept! And I'll tell you why: You would expect this game to be fun and easy - well it's not - my hand hurts a lot and it's shaking, I didn't get the achievements I was aiming for, my eyes are red and everything hurts... that's due to the fact that I played for 5 hours straight and found this PIECE OF SH*T ridiculously bad - that's in the rare occasion that you actually log in. Yeah - for years the developers of this are making money and they never fixed the issue, that EVERYBODY is experiencing with this game - not to be able to log in (maybe if you're lucky - from the 30th time). STAY AWAY!. Warning: DPI overscan problems prevent this game from working on modern PCs. This is a derivative puzzle game which functions like a 3D version of Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble. You rotate a shape made of coloured cubes around three axes, and drop additional cubes onto the structure. When you match 4 cubes of the same size, they disappear. If you add too many cubes, it explodes (critical mass). If you wait too long, you lose.Not terribly original, but a fair enough attempt at a puzzle game.The problem is that they did zero testing on modern PCs. Almost every modern PC requires DPI scaling be set to enable text to be readable on retina level displays, like UHD. The people behind Critical Mass never tested this, so they don't know that you can't use the interface because your mouse only hits 1/4 of the screen.However, they do still want your money, and because of this technical issue which prevents the game from working, I must warn people away. Don't waste your money on unplayable games like this.. Says it works for Macintosh Devices, however it does not! Do not buy this if you're using Mac otherwise you will be sad you lost two dollars.. This game reached critical mass, I uninstalled.
